Camera Obscura

Art Installation
“The Forest of Souls”

This art installation will be the re-creation, in the heart of the forest, of a "Camera Obscura" as a black box. This will transform into photographs created around natural elements from the forest itself along with the "Sites En Ligne Symposium".

Photographs will envelope the space gradually, with garlands of rope and natural materials, climbing the trees and giving an impression of a photographic waterfall.

This work of free inspiration is centered around the "Forest of Souls" concept by Julien Friedler and blends well with the creative energy defined by Alliance Culture, that successfully mixes graphic art and stage performing arts.

The art installation, which is highlighted by the magical creation “Camera Obscura”, is also a real scenography. A scene in progress where objects, photographs, paintings and actors are a heraldic echo of each other in a continually renewed narrative, where everyone is a subject one moment and an object the next.

The Protagonists of the Installation

The concept of "Camera Obscura", in the heart of the forest, has been conceived by the photographer P. Vercheval, in a schamanistic spirit that gives back to the forest her magicical power. The forest is a place of exchanges. A mutating world, a frontier between the organized world of the village people and the magical world of fairytale creatures. It is also a place that has a very special relationship with the light and dark moments. The forest allows rays of light to break through her texture and give birth to life itself... just like the Camera Obscura gives birth to a photographic interpretation.
